
Ruth del Fresno-Guillem

Independent researcher and a contemporary art conservator
Dr. Ruth del Fresno-Guillem is an independent researcher and a contemporary art conservator in private practice who primarily works for private collections and emerging artists. Active advocate for conservation and her main focus is to raise awareness within the artist and artrelated community. Ruth is focused on the artist’s voice. Ruth lectures frequently on awareness and the artist’s interview at international conferences and workshops as the 2018 and 2019 UAAC, the SBMK Summit in 2018 or a series of talks conducted in several Spanish and Portuguese Universities in November 2019 or the CO-TALKS series organized by 20/21 Conservação e Restauro during the pandemic. Continuously conducts artist interviews; in January 2020, she interviewed in NY the CubanAmerican artist Gladys Triana for a public program as part of Voices in Contemporary Art’s CALL/VoCA Talks series. Dr. del Fresno has created an open online database under the name of TestimoniArt, where she shares all the interviews that she conducts. In 2017, she received her Ph.D. in Science and Restoration of Historical and Artistic Heritage at the UPV (Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain). In her MFA, the interview was applied to three Catalan conceptual artists. She also has a BA+MA in Fine Arts (UPV) and History of Art (UAB, Universitat de Bellaterra, Spain). Nowadays, her research focuses on strategies for the preservation of Performance and Ephemeral Art. She believes in sharing, learning, and respect as an essential way to approach conservation, art, and life.
