Documentation is a source of information linked to the good that provides valuable knowledge for conservation-restoration. This can be generated in different formats and come from various studies, with historical or technical content, but always contributes to decision-making to define interventions and to understand the historical life of the movable or immovable property. It represents the knowledge and a source of information that offers a guarantee in the development of our profession. This year's theme is a particularly complex and enriching one for our profession. For this reason, we think that it deserves a joint reflection and a constant exchange of ideas in all areas related to heritage conservation and hence the reason for the theme of this edition. This edition is marked by the health situation caused by COVID-19. The organization has seen the need to question the face-to-face format of the event at the Barcelona Design Museum, scheduled for November 12 and 13, to adapt it to the new health requirements. By assessing the various congress options and the uncertainty of a resurgence of the pandemic, the association made the decision to adopt an entirely digital format, making this congress the first Virtual Congress of the Association. We hope that this XVI Technical Meeting, in a virtual format, will be a space to share experiences and knowledge between all those involved in the safeguarding of heritage.
