The Ministry for Cultural Heritage has commissioned the Politecnico di Milano (One of the most prestigious Italian universities) to monitor the online reputation of 100 Italian museums and places of culture in May 2020.
The monitoring highlights four aspects:
• Museums open on social channels: the growing trend of the online activity of Italian museums is confirmed. Twitter had a boost in the number of publications during Museum Week from 11 to 17 May 2020.
• Online user interactions: on average, user interactions per museum post are slightly increasing on Twitter and decreasing on Facebook and Instagram.
• Continuously growing online followers: the growing trend of followers continues also in May. On Instagram, an account gained on average 7.5% more followers, on Facebook 2.8%, and on Twitter 2.9%.
• The reopening of museums: online news on the reopening and the "collapse" of the hashtag #iorestoacasa
