Spain confirms quarantine on foreign tourists will be lifted on June 21st

Spain has confirmed it will lift the 14-day quarantine rule for foreign tourists on June 21st. Transport Minister also confirmed inter-provincial travel in Spain could be possible in those areas which reach phase three of a four-phase coronavirus recovery programme next Monday – and between different parts of Spain allowed onto phase three.

Spain’s state of alarm is due to end on June 21st after a sixth extension, meaning peoples’ movement cannot be restricted. Regions will have the power to decide whether residents can move between provinces once they go onto phase three.

Most of Andalucia, as well as all the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, are expected to move onto phase three and enjoy a new easing of coronavirus restrictions in a week’s time.

• If you are travelling, check with your airline before going to the airport and remember that the use of a mask is compulsory for indoor public spaces and outdoors when impossible to keep the safety distance. Follow the hygiene measures at all times, keep a distance with anyone and your baggage once the person in front of you has left the area.

As from 15th May and until the end of the State of Alarm, internal maritime and air border controls are restored temporarily. Entry into the national territory will only be allowed to nationals and residents in Spain, among other cases.
