Which countries have entry restrictions by air for travel into the country.

As of July 7th, 2020, 106 countries have completely restricted entry to non-citizens, and an additional 69 countries have at least partial entry restrictions.

NORTH AMERICA

Bermuda has lifted its travel restrictions as of July 1st, meaning all travelers may enter the territory. Canada has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. However, Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have COVID-19 symptoms may only enter by land, rail, or sea, and not by air. Greenland has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not Danish citizens or returning residents. Mexico does not have any entry restrictions, but travelers arriving from countries affected by COVID-19 will be screened and quarantined if necessary. The United States has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals who have visited Brazil, China, Iran, the Schengen Area, Ireland, or the United Kingdom in the past 14 days.

CENTRAL AMERICA

All airports in Belize are closed. Costa Rica has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. El Salvador has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Guatemala has suspended all flights into the country and restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Honduras has closed its airports until at least August 15th, 2020. Nicaragua does not have any entry restrictions, but all arriving travelers will be screened and quarantined if necessary. Panama has suspended all flights into the country except for humanitarian flights.

SOUTH AMERICA

Argentina has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Bolivia has closed its borders to travelers who are not nationals or residents of Bolivia until at least July 31st. Brazil has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals except certain visa holders. Chile has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Colombia has suspended international flights until at least August 31st. Flights to Ecuador have now resumed. The Falkland Islands has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not residents or work permit holders. French Guiana has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Guyana has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Paraguay has restricted all flights into the country. Peru has restricted entry to all travelers except Peruvian nationals and residents until at least July 31st, 2020. Suriname has closed its borders. Uruguay has suspended all flights into the country. Venezuela has suspended all international travel until at least July 12th.

CARIBBEAN

Anguilla has closed its airports. Antigua and Barbuda have reopened their borders. Aruba has opened its borders to travelers from Europe, Canada, and most Caribbean nations. Barbados does not have any entry restrictions, but all arriving travelers and airline crew must have a negative COVID-19 test. The British Virgin Islands has restricted the entry of all non-residents. Bonaire and Saba have begun to relax its travel restrictions for travelers arriving from Aruba, Curaçao, and Europe. The Cayman Islands has suspended all international flights. Cuba has suspended all flights into the country until July 1st. Curaçao has limited entry to residents, but will soon re-open to flights from Bonaire and the Netherlands. Dominica will reopen its borders to nationals and residents on July 15th, and for non-nationals on August 7th. The Dominican Republic has reopened its air borders. Grenada is expected to reopen its airports at the end of June. Guadeloupe has suspended most flights and has restricted the entry of non-residents, except for travelers arriving from Martinique, Saint-Barthéelemy, and St. Martin. Haiti has resumed international flights. Jamaica has reopened its borders to international travelers. Martinique does not have any entry restrictions, but all arriving travelers will be screened. Montserrat has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Puerto Rico will be reopening to tourists from July 15th Travelers must have a negative molecular COVID-19 test from within the last 72 hours. Saint Kitts and Nevis have closed their airports. St. Lucia has reopened its airports. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have lifted all travel restrictions related to coronavirus. Saint Maarten has restricted the entry of all travelers except those arriving from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saba, Sint Eustatius, St. Barthelemy, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia. The Bahamas has opened its borders to all travelers, including visitors. Visitors should contact commercial airlines directly for flight information. Trinidad and Tobago have closed their airports. Turks and Caicos have closed their airports. The US Virgin Islands has reopened its borders. All arriving travelers are subject to medical screening and quarantine.

EUROPE Albania has restarted flights to the EU, Serbia, and Turkey. Austria has opened its borders to travelers arriving from EU member states, the Schengen Area, or from Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, the Vatican, or the United Kingdom. Belarus has not implemented any entry restrictions, but foreign nationals are subject to a 14-day self-quarantine requirement unless they arrive from a certain list of countries. Belgium has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not arriving from EEA countries, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom. Nationals of Belgium or those same countries may still enter. Bosnia and Herzegovina have restricted the entry of all foreign nationals except those from its neighboring countries. Bulgaria has reopened its borders to travelers from most European countries. Croatia has opened its borders to visitors from the EU/EEA and the UK. Nationals from outside the EU may also apply online for an entry pass. Cyprus has begun allowing entry to travelers arriving from a specific list of countries. Czechia will now allow travelers from countries it considers to be of low risk to enter without being required to quarantine. Denmark has reopened its borders to travelers arriving from most European countries; restrictions remain in place for travelers from outside the EU/Schengen area and the UK. Estonian, Lithuanian and Latvian nationals, residence permit holders, foreign citizens with family members in Estonia, and travelers without symptoms of COVID-19 who are arriving from an EU Member State, Schengen member state or the UK may now enter Estonia. Finland has eased restrictions on travelers arriving from neighboring countries. France has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals except those arriving from the EU, UK, Andorra, Vatican City, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, and Switzerland. Germany has relaxed its entry restrictions for travelers arriving from the European Economic Area, the UK, and Australia, Georgia, Canada, Montenegro, New Zealand, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay. The Government of Gibraltar has lifted its travel restrictions. All incoming travelers with valid travel documents will be allowed entry into Gibraltar via the Gibraltar International Airport. Greece has resumed flights from many European countries. Hungary has begun relaxing restrictions for travelers from some neighboring countries, but Hungarian residents who are not EU nationals must still submit a request to the government. Iceland has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not nationals of EEA countries, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom. Ireland is not currently implementing any entry restrictions. Italy has reopened its borders to travelers arriving from the European Union/Schengen zone, Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay. Latvia has restricted the entry of all travelers except for Latvian, Estonian, and Lithuanian nationals and permanent residents and travelers who are EEA/UK nationals and traveling from within the EEA/UK. Lithuania has opened its borders to European countries with low rates of COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Luxembourg has reopened its borders to travelers arriving from other EU countries. Flights to and from Malta from restarted on July 1st. Moldova has reopened its borders to certain categories of visa holders. Montenegro has limited entry to nationals and residents of Montenegro as well as travelers who are residents of a select group of countries meeting certain epidemiological criteria. The Netherlands has begun to accept tourists arriving from countries in the EU/Schengen area. North Macedonia reopened its airports on July 1st for commercial traffic Norway has lifted its travel restriction and quarantine requirements for travelers arriving from Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faeroe Islands, and Denmark. Poland is now accepting travelers arriving from the EU, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Montenegro, Georgia, Japan, Canada, Albania, South Korea, and Ukraine. Portugal has opened its borders to travelers from outside the EU who are traveling for “essential” purposes. Romania has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not nationals of Romania, the EEA countries, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom. Russia has limited the entry of foreign nationals. Serbia has reopened its borders. Slovakia has opened its borders to travelers from many European countries. Slovenia has reopened its borders; however special quarantine restrictions apply to travelers arriving from countries with high rates of COVID-19. Spain has reopened its borders to travelers arriving from the EU/Schengen area and the UK. Sweden has restricted the entry of foreign travelers who are traveling from outside the EEA/UK. Switzerland has eased restrictions on travelers from Europe. Turkey has now lifted its COVID-19 travel restrictions. Ukraine has lifted its entry ban for foreign nationals. The United Kingdom does not have entry restrictions, but a 14-day quarantine is in place for arriving travelers.

AFRICA Algeria has closed its borders. Angola has suspended all international flights until further notice. Benin has closed its land borders and suspended all commercial flights Botswana has suspended flights and restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Burkina Faso has restricted the entry of all travelers except for Burkina Faso nationals and residents and limited humanitarian, medevac, and repatriation fights. Burundi has suspended all international flights Cameroon has suspended all international flights. Cape Verde has suspended all international passenger flights. The Central African Republic has closed Bangui M’Poko International Airport (BGF). Chad has suspended all flights until at least June 15th. Comoros has suspended all flights into the country. The Democratic Republic of the Congo has suspended all commercial flights from countries with confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19). Djibouti has suspended all flights into the country. Egypt has resumed commercial flights into the country. Equatorial Guinea has reopened its borders. Eritrea has not implemented any entry restrictions, but arriving travelers will be screened at Asmara International Airport (ASM). Swaziland has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Ethiopia has closed its land borders. Gabon has resumed international flights. Gambia has suspended all commercial flights. Ghana has suspended all commercial flights into the country. Guinea has suspended all commercial flights until at least July 15th. Guinea-Bissau has closed its borders. Cote d’Ivoire has resumed flights in a limited capacity. Only Cote d’Ivoire nationals and residents may enter the country. Kenya has suspended all commercial flights into the country. Lesotho has restricted the entry of all visiting travelers Liberia has reopened its airport to commercial flights. Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 test result. Libya has closed its borders. Malawi has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals arriving from countries with coronavirus (COVID-19). Mali has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not nationals or residents of Mali or people on humanitarian, medevac or repatriation fights. Mauritania has closed all its airports. Mauritius has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Morocco has suspended all flights to and from China, Italy, Spain, Algeria, France, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Greece, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Jordan, Tunisia, Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Mali, Chad, Canada, and Brazil. Mozambique has limited the entry of travelers across its borders Namibia has closed its borders until at least September 30th. Only Namibian nationals and permanent residents may enter the country. Niger has suspended all international flights. Nigeria has closed its airports. The Republic of the Congo has closed all of its airports. Rwanda has suspended all commercial flights. Senegal has suspended all commercial flights into the country. Seychelles has lifted travel restrictions for travelers arriving from a select group of countries. Flights to Sierra Leone are suspended until at least July 15th, with the exception of humanitarian, medevac and repatriation flights. Somalia has suspended all commercial flights. South Africa has suspended all commercial flights into the country. South Sudan has re-opened its borders; however, the South Sudanese government has suspended the issue of visas at its Embassies abroad, and all routine international commercial flights are suspended. Sudan has suspended all flights except for humanitarian, medical, and repatriation flights. Sao Tome and Principe have restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Tanzania has not implemented any entry restrictions, but all arriving travelers are subject to medical screening upon arrival. Togo has closed its borders. Tunisia’s new entry restrictions are now in effect. Entry requirements vary depending on the severity of the epidemic in travelers’ country of residence. Uganda has suspended all flights. Zambia has reopened its airports. Zimbabwe has restricted the entry of all travelers except for Zimbabwean nationals and residents.

MIDDLE EAST

Afghanistan is now accepting international travelers. Bahrain has restricted the entry of all travelers except for nationals, residents, military personnel, and travelers with a valid letter of Prior Permission Granted (PPG). Iran has restricted the entry of nationals of the United Arab Emirates. Iraq has closed its airports until at least July 15th. Israel has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Jordan has restricted the entry of all travelers. Kuwait has restricted the entry of all travelers except Kuwaiti nationals, their immediate families, and domestic workers who are accompanied by a Kuwaiti national. Lebanon has reopened its airports with limited capacity. Oman has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Palestine does not have entry restrictions, but has begun to quarantine all travelers arriving from abroad. Qatar has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Saudi Arabia has suspended all incoming flights. Syria has suspended all flights. The United Arab Emirates is restricting most non-residents, except for Dubai which has a separate set of regulations in place. Yemen has suspended all international flights.

ASIA

Armenia has restricted the entry of all travelers except for Armenian nationals and residents and their family members. Azerbaijan has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Bangladesh has suspended flights from Bahrain, Bhutan, Hong Kong, India, Kuwait, the Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Thailand. Bhutan has closed its borders. Brunei has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals Cambodia has suspended all visa exemptions, visas on arrival, and e-visas. China has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals except Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan passport holders. Timor-Leste has restricted the entry of all travelers except for nationals and residents of Timor-Leste. Georgia has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not nationals and residents of Georgia, or an immediate family member. Hong Kong has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. India has suspended most categories of international flights into the country. Indonesia has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals Japan has restricted the entry of travelers who have been in various countries around the world in the past 14 days. Kazakhstan is restarting flights from China, Georgia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Turkey; however, only certain categories of people will be allowed to enter on these flights. Kyrgyzstan has restricted the entry of all non-Kyrgyzstan nationals including permanent residents, and temporarily suspended visa-free entry for travelers from most countries. Laos’ travel restrictions are still in effect until at least July 31st. Macau has restricted the entry of all non-Macau residents from anywhere except Hong Kong, Taiwan, or mainland China. Malaysia has limited entry to Malaysian citizens, residents and their family members. The Maldives is beginning to ease travel restrictions and will accept tourist travelers from July 15th Mongolia has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Myanmar has suspended all flights into the country until at least July 31. Nepal has suspended all international flights until at least July 5th. North Korea has restricted the entry of all travelers who are tourists. Pakistan is now accepting flights at all international airports except Gwadar and Turbat. The Philippines has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not Philippines nationals and their spouses and children. Singapore has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals except those with prior approval from the government. South Korea has restricted the entry of travelers arriving from China and Japan who meet certain criteria Sri Lanka has closed its airports. Taiwan has begun to reopen its borders to foreign nationals – they must apply for a special entry permit before traveling. Tajikistan has suspended all flights except for humanitarian, medevac and repatriation flights until at least July 15th. Thailand has restricted the entry of most foreign nationals through July 31st. Turkmenistan has suspended all flights into the country. Uzbekistan has resumed international flights for certain categories of travelers from countries deemed to have a stable epidemiological situation. Vietnam has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals.

SOUTH PACIFIC

American Samoa has restricted the entry of all travelers who are not residents or US nationals. Australia has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals except New Zealand nationals who reside in Australia, and nationals of other Oceania countries who are transiting through to their home countries. The Cook Islands have restricted the entry to all travelers except for Cook Islanders and Cook Islands Permit Holders. The Federated States of Micronesia have not restricted entrance to the country, but there are restrictions in place for the states of Pohnpei and Chuuk. Fiji has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. French Polynesia has restricted the entry of all non-residents until July 15th. Guam has restricted the entry of all non-nationals/residents who have been in a country with confirmed COVID-19 cases for more than a week, and haven’t officially been declared healthy. Kiribati has closed its airports. The Marshall Islands has restricted the entry of all travelers. New Zealand has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals except for Australian nationals who reside in New Zealand and Samoan or Tongan citizens making essential travel. The Northern Mariana Islands does not have entry restrictions, but travelers are subject to quarantine on arrival Palau has restricted entrance of travelers who have transited through or have been in China, Hong Kong, or Macau in the past 14 days. Papua New Guinea has restricted the entry of all travelers except for health workers, flight crew, military personnel or those with a special written exemption from the Emergency Controller. Samoa has restricted entry of travelers who have been in Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, Taiwan, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Italy, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, or the United States. The Solomon Islands has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals. Tonga has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals arriving from or transiting through China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Macau. Tuvalu has closed its borders. Vanuatu has closed all ports of entry.
